Chessie Jr. is a community based program which allows any sailor between the ages of 11-21 to participate in instruction and racing in a junior big boat sailing program.
All of the funds raised by the Chessie Jr. program go back into the operations and maintenance of the boats and training.
The program is managed by volunteers. Coaches with US Sailing certification are hired for each session.
The boats are not owned by the program, they are loaned to the program by their owners.
The annual budget of $50,000.00 covers expenses including boat storage, sail purchases and maintenance, boat maintenance, training, equipment replacement, entry fees, social fees, insurance, and operating expenses.
Chessie Jr. will accept cash donations and suitable equipment/sail donations.
